Applying Nail Chrome Powder - A Step-by-Step Tutorial
Prep Your Nails
Before you get into the nitty-gritty of applying nail chrome powder, you'll need to prep your nails. Start by trimming and filing your nails in the desired shape and length. Use a buffer block to smooth out any rough edges and then use a cuticle pusher to gently push back the cuticles. Wipe each nail with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol for extra cleanliness. Finally, add a base coat of white or light coloured nail polish. This will provide an optimal background for the chrome powder to adhere to.
Apply the Base Coat
Once you've prepped your nails and applied a base coat of white or light coloured nail polish, it's time to apply the chrome powder. Dip an eyeshadow brush into the chrome powder and tap off the excess on a piece of paper. Then, lightly stipple the brush onto each nail to apply an even coverage. You may need to repeat this step a few times to achieve the desired opacity - be sure not to press too hard so that you don't activate any air bubbles.
Apply Chrome Powder
The final step requires the use of a chrome powder sealant. Dip a clean eyeshadow brush into the sealant, making sure to cover all of the bristles. Lightly stipple the brush over each nail, waiting a minute or so between each coat for it to dry. Once all 10 nails have been sealed, allow time for them to fully dry and inspect them for any imperfections that need correcting. Your chrome powder nails are now ready to show off!
Seal with Gel Top Coat
Once your nails are painted and have been allowed to dry, you must use a gel top coat to seal the design. Gel top coats will last longer than traditional nail varnish top coats, making chrome powder designs appear more shiny and vibrant for extended wear. Allow the gel top coat to completely dry before applying a chrome powder sealant. The sealant ensures that all of the powder particles stick together and adds shine and vibrancy to your finished look.
